How Teachers Now Go To School In Cameroon After A Student Stabbed A Teacher To Death
A 15-year-old form three student of the Government High School Nkolbisson, Yaounde, Cameroon, reportedly stabbed to death his mathematics teacher.
This very incident happened on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the school premises in Nkolbisson, a town in the outskirts of Cameroon’s political capital, Yaounde.
As reported by the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV), Maurice Njoni Tchakounte, the late part-time maths teacher (who was awaiting government integration after graduating from Higher Teachers Training College) was about to give lectures in form three but wanted to first call everyone to order, a situation that led him into a physical struggle with one of the unyielding students who was rather focused on his phone in class. The student whose name we got as Brice Bisse Ngosso was far from being willing to concentrate on what the teacher was about to teach.
As sources recount, Maurice attempted to confiscate the phone in the hands of the student as stipulated in the rules and regulations of the school. unfortunately for the teacher, Brice allegedly used pair of compass and stabbed him to death.
As reports hold, the teacher was rushed to a nearby health facility but unfortunately succumbed to the wound. The student, however, who had ran away to hide at his Oyom-Abang neighborhood in Yaounde has been arrested and is under custody.
This is not the first time that such an incident occurs in a secondary school in Cameroon. It has become so common these days probably because of the poor recognition of religion and moral education as a backbone lesson or foundation in the secondary school.
